Arriving at the Guildford track in wet conditions was not ideal after the sunshine we have become used to. We had to wait well into the afternoon for the sunshine we had ordered to emerge! It was an uphill struggle for the 3rd Lily B match as we were missing athletes as well as graded officials. Both team managers had to double up as officials for the high jump, as well as trying to manage the team. This meant we had to leave the base for quite a while and hoped everyone knew what they were doing, not really ideal and an issue that needs to be addressed.
We would like to thank all of the parents who stepped in to help as officials – this was a great help and we really hope that some parents will consider going on the officials course. Special thanks to Bryony again for helping with the warm ups.
Kingston & Poly came 3rd overall in this match, which is a good result, especially considering that we had a lower turnout than usual and weren't able to fill all of the events. However, we were 137 points behind the home team and 46 points behind Croydon AC on the day, so we will need all hands and feet on deck for the Lily B final to be a success at home at Kingsmeadow.

The girls were in great spirits again and performances were very good in all of the events that we could fill. It was great to see that everyone competed in three events to gain extra points for the team but disappointing that our under 17 relay team were unable to run and that we didn't have enough athletes for the B relays this time. In total we had 5 under 17's, 7 under 15's, 8 under 13's and 4 under 11's.
Congratulations to U17 athlete Zoe Shepherd who obtained a PB in Javelin (27.6m) as well as winning the 80m hurdles B string in a PB of 12.8s. Hard training paid off for Emilia Chittenden at this meeting when she ran 2.28.6 for her 800m race resulting in a PB.
A welcomed PB for Sophie Doherty in winning her 200m race in a time of 27.2s. Hannah Choudhury ran 300m for the first time in competition and had a very good run finishing in 48s. Ashlee Hambling took on the discus and threw it for the first time in competition, giving her a new event to focus on and challenge herself with.
Great PBs for a number of our U13's. Jocelyn Booth and Jeanmarie Keeya got 2 PBs each: one in Long Jump (3.91m & 3.42m respectively) and the other on the track (Jocelyn 800m 2.48.2, Jeanmarie 70m hurdles 14.6s). Eva Cerilli achieved a PB in Javelin (8.3m) before she was swiftly whisked away feeling very unwell. Bethan Norvill ran 200m in a time of 30.9 - a pleasing PB for her. Hats off to Josie Perrin running the gruelling 1500m in a PB of 5.47.4.
Lovely to see the under 11's taking it all in their stride and putting out some good performances with new PBs in 600m for Amelia Rowbotham and Lara Antar, as well as a PB of 2.97m for Arabella Ezekwugo in the Long Jump.
We are looking forward to the final battle for the Lily B cup at Kingsmeadow on Sat 31st Aug - we will need all of our athletes available in order to get the best result possible!
